The dental implant is a special ‘screw’ which is inserted into the jawbone with 3-5 mm protruding and left to naturally attach itself. As dental implants are made primarily from titanium, they are biocompatible and will naturally bond to the surrounding tissues and bone. Throughout this process your natural teeth are not disturbed. Following around 2-6 months (depending on individual circumstance) this process will be complete, forming a solid foundation to affix a restoration.
